NOTEPAD

Top  Previous  Next

The notepad serves as "mass-memory" for data attached to a distinct call. You can enter up to 32KB of information into a single notepad. The number of notepads is limited by your disk space only. This feature offers a variety of interesting opportunities. There is no problem with copying the complete text of a RTTY-QSO into the notepad. Likewise you can copy all available info concerning an expedition and attach it to the expedition's call. Another application is to use the notepad for saving propagation information for a particular call and/or propagation path. These are just a few benefits of the huge available memory size. There are, however, no limitations to your imagination with respect to further applications of the notepad facility.

Since there are no restrictions on the data entered into the notepad please note: There is no checking for data integrity with respect to this field while the notepad is saved.

The notepad can be accessed either directly from the log input line with a call sign entered into the call sign field or in review mode with a call highlighted. If you want to create a notepad for a particular call you need to click on the shaded hotspot which contains the caption "Notepad:" in the logging information frame. A tool tip comes up on 'mouse over' this hotspot telling you that this is the spot to enter the notepad facility. If, for example,  you selected the log entry for VY0/KD6WW to be expanded by a notepad and proceeded as indicated above the following frame pops up:

You can now enter any data either from the keyboard or from the clipboard. All standard WINDOWS text editing procedures apply for the notepad frame. Close the frame by clicking the OK or Cancel button respectively. Clicking the Help button will display this help topic.

In case there is an existing  notepad for a call the first line of it will be displayed in the logging information frame right to the "Notepad:" caption. An existing notepad can be edited at any convenient opportunity, deleted, recreated, amended, etc..

All existing notepads can easily be inspected and accessed by entering TurboLog 4's main menu, sub item EDIT, item "Notepad for ..." . On selecting the latter the following frame pops up:

You can scroll through all existing notepads in the upper part of the frame. The lower part displays the content of a particular notepad which was created for the selected call. You can edit the information in the lower frame by using all standard WINDOWS editing options. You can delete notepads in the upper box. If you intend to do so you are prompted for a confirmation before the record is finally removed.

Like any other data grid the Notepad Database can be printed. The Print command is available from the context menu which pops up on right mouse key click.
